Vacationing in any of the tropical islands is a magical experience. For one thing the culture in the tropics, whether it be Hawaii, Tahiti or Australia is so different from the ‘city’ life that we are used to. The islands are ‘laid back’; everything will happen when it is supposed to, no rushing, and no stress. Wonderful. The food is divine, and all the natives are so kind and helpful that you really do not want to leave. It is truly a life that anyone would want to lead. Even though lying on the beach getting a tan, or playing in the beautiful ocean waters is totally relaxing, most people want to make the most of their vacation by going to popular visitor attractions, and doing things that are not possible at home. Some of the more popular things to experience while in the tropics are whale watching, running into a group of porpoises playing in the water, snorkeling and scuba diving. Snorkeling and scuba diving allow you to see the ocean and it’s creatures from a totally different viewpoint; you are in their world. The coral in many of the islands is dead from pollution to the waters. The dead coral is white. However if you are lucky enough to be in a location where the coral lives, you will be totally amazed at the colors. Living coral is pink, lavender, blue, purple and salmon colored; just to mention a few of the colors and hues. It holds a beauty that you cannot find anywhere else. The fish you see are equally as beautiful, brightly colored in every color and color combination you can imagine. The colors of tropical fish are so bright that they appear to be neon. The best news of all is that you can bring the feel and colors of the tropics into your home by setting up a salt-water aquarium. Salt-water Aquariums can be set up with living coral, and the same tropical fish that you saw when snorkeling or scuba diving. Salt-water Aquariums are expensive to set up, and they require quite a bit of maintenance, but once you have mastered the technique the maintenance is minimal. The expense and time is well worth being able to view your own tropical paradise from your couch!
